How it all started
In October 2023, FinTech West initiated its second internship programme with UWE's MSc FinTech students. Our CEO, Gerald Lee, project-managed this initiative, leading to a valuable partnership. A group of enthusiastic interns recognised the need for a FinTech society at UWE to help others understand the industry. Despite the challenge of balancing studies with setting up the society, the team showed remarkable effort and creativity, handling everything from logo design and social media to establishing a committee and planning six months of workshops and events.
Objectives and purpose
This partnership aims to enhance the understanding of fintech within the student community, forge strategic alliances with industry leaders and fintech organisations, and provide networking opportunities, mentorship, and resources to empower students pursuing careers in fintech.

- Educational sessions on cryptocurrency trading for UWE Fintech members, covering essential industry knowledge with an optional focus on blockchain technology.
- Voluntary internships providing students with opportunities to develop skills and receive career mentorship in trading and investment.
- Experiential learning through simulated trading programmes, offering hands-on experience through demo sessions.

This partnership lets Mach D Trading identify and recruit talented students based on their performance during the collaboration, while building strong community ties and expanding its professional network among future fintech leaders.
Conclusion
This partnership marks the beginning of an exciting journey for both Mach D Trading and the UWE Fintech Society. By combining our resources and expertise, we aim to create a dynamic learning environment that prepares students for successful careers in fintech.
Mach D is a research and education sandbox. Nothing here is financial advice or a recommendation to buy or sell any asset. Past results don't guarantee future performance, so only ever trade with funds you can afford to lose.
